Job Title: Equipment Eng Access Planner

There is an immediate opening for a Planner in Equipment Engineering Wireline to be located in our Oshawa Office  (301 Marwood Rd.). The successful candidate will be a results oriented individual  with industry knowledge and technology experience who  would be accountable to develop Detailed Design Packages (DDPs) from high level engineering plans and guidelines from the various Capacity and Planning groups under Wireline Networks Organization. 

The Equipment Engineering Specialist works very closely with the regional technical specialist assigned to the implementation of the project to ensure that all required site level details are provided for the successful completion of the projects. This position will focus mainly on the Access Layer Platform (DOCIS, ROD/SDV/QPSK, and HSI) in the TOR region primarily in Wolfedale and Argentia Primary hub locations.


The Specialists responsibilities include:

• Preparation and updating all required project documentation, creating site specific rack elevations, detailed wiring diagrams, and cable run lists.

• Identification of capacity planning impacts on Head End to Network Implementation Planners

• Ensuring that all documentation and test plans are complete

• Preparation  and submission of detailed equipment lists (BOMs) 

• Assisting in the coordination of timely delivery of materials to the project site.

• Visiting Head End sites and completing site surveys for equipment installation

• Tracking projects to ensure deliverables are on schedule and on budget. 

• Providing project updates in various work flow tools and weekly Project management meetings 

• Generating purchase orders for contractors

• Remain current with the latest company and industry technologies, policies and standards. 

• Beware and adhere to all applicable Health and Safety regulations, in accordance with legislation and related Company policy.




• Practical Head End experience 

• Knowledge of all CATV inside plant design and construction practices. 

• Understanding of all analog, digital and other network transport technology and systems.

• Five years of CATV or related network industry experience. 

• Post-secondary education in Electronics or Telecommunications or equivalent industry experience.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office and the associated software. 

• Familiar with standard computer hardware and interfaces. 

• Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

• Valid driver's license.
