As Senior Manager Transportation Management, you will report directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain Operations, and be responsible for driving strategic and operational excellence across the Rogers Supply Chain in the areas of inbound and outbound transportation, and customs and trade compliance. In doing so you will work closely with the Supply Chain Capabilities, Distribution Management, and the Business Unit aligned Supply Chain teams (Wireless, Residential, and Network), to drive the continuous improvement of the Rogers Supply Chain.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

Transportation Performance

  • Meet or exceed service level requirements for on time delivery
  • Meet or exceed service level requirements related to shortfalls and damages
  • Drive reductions in quality incidents by carriers
  • Drive reductions in security incidents and infractions
  • Meet or exceed cost improvement targets for transportation

 

Transportation Leadership

  • Provide thought leadership on transportation management
  • Serve as the key point of contact for strategic, tactical and operational considerations related to the Rogers Supply Chain transportation function
  • Develop and maintain metrics to measure Key Performance Indicators
  • Develop and maintain the Carrier Performance Program, and assist with the development and the strengthening of key relationships with carriers and customs brokers
  • Support the development and delivery of financial plans related to Transportation Management, and actively drive cost, service level and process improvement initiatives to meet business goals
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Capabilities, the Distribution Management, and the BU aligned Supply Chain teams (Wireless, Residential, and Network), to drive the continuous improvement of the Rogers Supply Chain
  • Drive and support the selection and implementation of a Transportation Management System to improve the customer experience and reduce operational costs
  • Partner with Sourcing & Procurement colleagues on all transportation related sourcing events and strategic negotiations
  • Maintain industry expertise through certifications, education programs, conferences, seminars, and industry involvement
  • Provide colleagues and partner organizations with support and expertise in transportation related initiatives as required

 

Compliance and Security

  • Provide oversight over the Customs Compliance Program in alignment with corporate policies, to ensure customs activity complies with CBSA regulations
  • Provide oversight and management of customs brokers (budget adherence, KPIs, etc.)
  • Support business partners and team members with customs legislations as required (e.g. new product introductions)
  • Support initiatives and processes relating to compliance needs outside of CBSA, including SoX, and financial audits
  • Support initiatives and processes relating to transportation security
  • Participate in audit events as required

 

Leadership and Change Management

  • Champion transformational change management, collaborating with and influencing key business partners
  • Cultivate and effectively manage relationships with senior leaders and peers, and coach and manage the professional development of direct reports

 

WHAT YOU HAVE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Certification in Supply Chain / Logistics / Transportation preferred (e.g. P. Log., CITT)
  • 10 – 12 years of years experience in inbound and outbound transportation, and customs and trade compliance
    • Demonstrable results managing carrier and 3PL relationships
    • Strong working knowledge of customs and trade compliance
    • Experience with Canada Border Service Agency, specifically managing audits, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to apply process excellence methodology and tools e.g. Lean, Six Sigma
  • Experience with implementation and use of leading Transportation Management Systems. Knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle and/or SAP preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Accounting and Finance, as it relates to Supply Chain Operations
  • Strategic mindset, with honed analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and executive presence
  • Effective interpersonal skills, and ability to influence and manage change
  • Strong leadership skills, and prior experience leading and coaching teams
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, with different teams, functions and business units across the organization, and deliver on project management accountabilities
  • Be an advocate for a customer focused culture, and showcase the value of the Supply Chain organization as a valued business partner
