As a full-time News Anchor/Reporter, reporting to the Program Director, your role at KiSS 99.3 and 92.1 ROCK will be to write, edit, produce, report and broadcast the most up-to-date news stories and newscasts.  Our goal is to provide immediate, accurate and credible information for our listeners, with a focus on local and regional news, sports and weather. The successful candidate will share our passion to be first, fast and factual. 

Your day will start at 5am preparing and recording newscasts for both stations and news content for our websites and social media.  The remainder of your shift is spent attending press conferences, curating and preparing stories for the afternoon news and following day.  News happens 24/7.  You will be required to work flexible hours to cover breaking news or major news stories in Timmins and area.  

As a valued member of the Rogers Timmins team, you will act as ambassador at station events and live broadcasts, working closely with Sales and Programming to deliver compelling content for our listeners and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit, write, produce and broadcast the most up to date breaking news stories and newscasts
  • Attend community press conferences, meetings and media events
  • Conduct and edit news interviews, write scripts, and broadcast finished product
  • Experience reporting live on breaking news events
  • Knowledge of technical requirements for live broadcasting
  • Generate creative ideas and content
  • Keep up-to-date with major developing stories within our region
  • Understand how to use social media to present news
  • Assist in other areas of our operation as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year broadcast experience
  • Extensive knowledge of news, including local Timmins news
  • Excellent editing, writing and production skills
  • Strong skills as an interviewer
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter who is able to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated attributes as a team player
  • Fantastic can-do attitude
  • Valid drivers license
  • Interest in sports and sports broadcasting an asset
