Summary:

The Toronto Blue Jays Organization is seeking hard-working individuals with a dedication for assisting fans and a passion for enhancing the guest experience. This position requires a willingness to assist a wide demographic of fans – especially those with accessible needs – in a polite and friendly manner to ensure that all of our guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience at our events.

Applicants must be available to work 90% of all 81 home games with mandatory weekend and holiday shifts required. Candidates should have some experience working with guests in a customer-service capacity.

Ambassadors are primarily responsible for assisting our guests with accessible needs through the delivery of wheelchair or walking escorts, in-game check-ins, and monitoring of accessible areas to avoid congestion and allow for an equal opportunity for guests to fully enjoy the game without interruption. Ambassadors are also responsible for providing customer service support to all fans from pre-game through to post-game.

 

Responsibilities/Expectations:

Accessibility Support

  • Assisting guests with accessible needs to and from their seats by way of wheelchair escort or providing an arm for guests as support
  • Providing in-game check-ins for guests with accessible needs to ensure that they are aware of accessible options for concessions, washrooms, post-game escorts etc, and provide information and assistance in these areas as needed
  • Clearing accessible areas of concourse traffic to avoid congestion and allow guests in these accessible areas the opportunity to enjoy the game without interruption
  • Assisting security and other departments with line management and operation of our accessible entrance at gate 7
  • Working with other departments to coordinate our accessible drop-off and pick-up transportation zone

     

Fan Interaction

  • Proactively greeting and assisting fans inside and outside of the Rogers Centre with a smile
  • Providing guests with accurate directions and stadium information as required
  • Celebrating special occasions with our fans by visiting them and presenting them with a card and well wishes
  • Being alert for the safety of all fans
  • Having a complete understanding of Rogers Centre and all event policies. You are accountable for your own actions
  • Reporting any incident (major or minor) on an Incident Report card and submitting that report to your supervisor

 

Qualifications:

  • Availability to work a minimum of 90% of all Toronto Blue Jays home games, and the availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
  • Availability to work a minimum of 2 Rogers Centre concerts or events occurring during the season
  • Ability to push a wheelchair with one passenger around the stadium (training for safe navigation will be provided)
  • A passion for teamwork and the ability to communicate and interact positively  in a team setting
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of roles within the Rogers Centre on a game-by-game basis
  • Ability to use creative problem-solving skills and assertiveness without being prompted
  • Successful candidates must be 18 years of age or older
