Chatelaine, Canada’s leading women’s media brand, is looking for a dynamic writer-editor with a love and knowledge of food trends to join its team as Associate Editor, Food.

 

We are looking for a versatile, energetic editor with at least three years of full-time editorial experience on a major media brand, significant experience writing and reporting on food—including news, profiles, trends and features—a strong digital background, and familiarity with Chatelaine and its content. The ideal candidate is a quick thinker, self-starter, and an ideas person with a desire to experiment with new ways of interacting with readers. This person thrives on creativity and innovation and has a positive, team-focused attitude.
 

What you will be doing:

• Research, develop, write, edit and package exceptional food content across publishing platforms (including web, mobile, tablet, print and video)

• Cultivate and manage a cross-Canada network of talented food contributors

• Work with editorial and art teams to ensure that objectives are met on time and on budget

• Manage content publishing for social and search engine optimization

• Create and execute projects that support audience and advertiser objectives, partnerships, promotional programs and sales efforts
• Be a brand ambassador across platforms, representing our mandate and core values

 
What you will bring:
• Minimum of three years of food-related editorial experience on a major media brand, including digital, video, social media and integrated partnerships  

• Demonstrated talent for creative, multi-platform storytelling and packaging, both as an editor and a writer

• A strong understanding of Canadian food culture, trends, products and personalities.

• Exceptional time-management and organizational skills
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with a creative team and work independently

• Willingness to occasionally travel and work outside of regular office hours
• Bilingualism is a bonus
