We are looking for an IT centric Broadcast Technician in Toronto. Candidates should be self-motivated, diligent and accountable. The Candidate best suited for this job can work well within a team and on their own. The most suited applicants are detail oriented, but also considerate of a larger endeavour. This position requires a service oriented individual who is always looking to help others get the job done in a friendly and proficient manner. This is a Union position and you must be willing to work shifts.


What You'll do....

The Applicant should have relevant work experience in either the IT or Broadcast Engineering with a strong will and appetite to learn. In this role, the selected candidate would be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing, traditional television production equipment such as baseband camera chains, production and routing switchers, audio consoles and non-linear editing systems. Experience with production workflows is recommended. Your knowledge and experience with large scale data storage systems and database management will be a considerable asset. Programming skills and the ability to read code is becoming increasingly more beneficial. Strong knowledge of IP based signal distribution, transcoding and encoding algorithms and streaming technologies are an essential part of this career challenge.


What You'll Bring...

  • Experience in Broadcast or IT Technology / Computer Sciences
  • A+ Hardware Certification
  • Proficiency in SQL and Redundant database management
  • Proficiency in HTML, Java and PHP
  • Knowledge of LTFS tape Libraries and Elastic Storage systems (AREMA and GPFS)
  • Knowledge of Asset Management Technology
  • CCNA Cisco Network Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Windows / Linux / MAC OSX / Red-Hat / IOS / Android  operating Systems
  • Knowledge of SDI / ASI / IP data streams.
  • Knowledge of MPEG / MPEG2 / MPEG4 / h.264 / h.265 / JPEG 2000 compression algorithms
