Breakfast Television is looking to hire a highly-creative Content Producer. Working closely with the Supervising Producer and on-air talent the candidate will create relevant and engaging live television segments to wake Canadians up every morning and engage with audiences anytime on the brand’s digital channels. The ideal candidate is able to conceive of entertaining and engaging segments across a broad range of topics from lifestyle to entertainment to current events.  

This person will be able to produce creative variety show style content with viewer engagement top of mind. This person is nimble and eager to stay ahead of the trends and takes pride in being able to make things happen, from conception to delivery. You must have a passion to be on top of current events in Toronto and across Canada, and a desire to inspire audiences to feel good and have fun. Delivering highly relevant and valuable content that will attract & engage our target audience is a must. 

What you'll do:

  • Reporting to the Supervising Producer, the Content Producer will produce multiple segments each week to appear on broadcast and/or digital. • Ability to chase leads, pursue “exclusive” content, and pitch original story and segment ideas
  • Relationship management and development, working with on-air guests and publicists to develop industry leading content
  • Provide creative and practical input during all phases of production (ideas, scripting, interviews, asset gathering, music selection, prep for editing)
  • Demonstrate creative thought leadership, providing inspiration for the show and digital content
  • Stay ahead of trends/pop culture/world events
  • Ability to secure brand relationships to provide giveaways
  • Ability to produce sales integrations across multi channels
  • Conduct engaging interviews with range of interview subjects; pursuing unique and audiencefocused angles in order to create remarkable moments
  • Strong storytelling capabilities with a passion for finding characters and stories that are emotional and visually captivating
  • Sources an extensive list of subject matter experts to diversify BT’s on-air and online specialist complement Ability to pre-interview broadcast guests and repurpose on-air content for digital platforms
  • The role may require you to lend your expertise on-camera 
    What you'll bring:
  • Proven experience in content creation across all platforms including digital/social media
  • Strong editorial judgment and organization skills are critical, along with the strong ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure
  • A sound understanding and experience with all elements of the production process
  • Experience in all facets of production including logistics, story editing and writing.
  • Proven track record of creative and engaging storytelling
  • Must be collaborative, have strong interpersonal skills and be an excellent communicator
  • You have an appreciation of the Breakfast Television brand and of what goes into creating engaging content for our viewers
  • Solid understanding and ability to use digital media tools and technologies (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok)
  • Control room experience not necessary but an asset
  • Ability to ideate on digital-only content to amplify the BT brand
  • Willingness to adopt to and embrace new technology for digital and broadcast
