Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Data Products, the Data Engineer Data Manager will be responsible for driving third party data strategy that will enable campaign execution, advanced analytics and insights across the consumer wireless and connected home lines of business. 

What you will do…

Engage with vendors and business stakeholders to drive business value:

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements, articulate business value and own delivery roadmap to land third party datasets within Rogers data platforms
  • Serve as the internal and external SME for all third party data sources by interfacing with the vendors on all business and technical requirements
  • Standardize our ETL processes and tools for third party datasets to serve as a template across multiple external data sources.
  • Perform ad hoc projects as required to support various teams based on existing or new analytics

Automate data with IT:

  • Translate business requirements into technical requirements in order to promote external datasets in production with IT partners
  • Manage and provide clear instructions to IT resources to ensure final deliverable meets business expectations
  • Familiar with agile principles and scrum methodology

Collaborate & Evangelize:

  • Forge a healthy and productive working relationship with external and internal teams to promote value driven by using third party datasets
  • Be recognized across the business as the single point of contact for all things related to third party datasets
  • Participate and contribute to shaping the long-term Data Products roadmap and plan to evolve data and analytics capabilities within the organization
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple Rogers teams: Data, Analytics, Connected Home, Wireless, Customer Account Management, Billing, etc.
  • Align on best practices with other Rogers Digital teams
  • Work closely with senior leadership providing status, action plans and recommendations

What you will bring…

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering (Preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant ETL experience in building data pipelines to land or migrate data sources from different environments (Azure, Informatica, Oracle, Hadoop)
  • Experienced with managing external vendors and communicating across various internal teams

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency with coding languages to extract and analyze data (SQL, SAS, Python)
  • Hands on experience with ETL framework in order to automate process with IT using Informatica or other tools
  • Develop scripts using SAS, Python or SQL in order to validate match rates (with our existing customer base) against third party datasets
  • Perform Business Readiness Testing with vendors and IT

Interpersonal Skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn and understand concepts, multi-task, investigate issues, solve problems, promote efficiency/automation, make decisions, manage processes, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent and proven analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, and perform well in a fast paced and dynamic agile environment
  • Proven ability to exercise a high degree of business judgment and sound reasoning
  • Competitive & results driven – both short term and long term
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a demonstrated collaborator
  • Strong sense of presence. Confident and comfortable working with senior management
  • Positive attitude + enthusiasm & passion for business is a must!
