Reporting to the Sr. Director, Public Cloud, the Director of Cloud Strategy and Governance will manage the governance around how our teams request, manage and optimize cloud services and lead the work of developing and documenting our multi-year cloud strategy. The position requires strong business, financial, technical and program management acumen as well as an ability to work with senior leaders in a high paced environment managing diverse activities.  



  • Lead, develop and grow a high performing team consisting of technical and business leads
  • Develop, document, and communicate the strategy, vision and business objectives for our Cloud organization
  • Develop the processes and policies for our internal teams’ use of public cloud resources (including intake, infrastructure placement, etc…)
  • Work with our application teams and business units to translate their needs and concepts into a multi-year cloud strategy with clear deliverables and KPIs
  • Manage, monitor, and forecast our public cloud spend across the company; track our usage relative to forecasts to ensure our teams are effectively managing their cloud spend
  • Govern our contracts with Cloud Service Providers; ensure we’re managing to SLAs with vendors and tracking and managing the benefits from our agreements (ex. credits, training, etc…)
  • Implement and continue to improve our FinOps program across Rogers; provide visibility to our teams on their cloud spend while ensuring they’re aware of how their application roadmaps will impact their cloud usage
  • Continue the deployment and refinement of our chargeback model for cloud services and provide recommendations and guidance for cloud optimizations
  • Partner with the Cyber Security team to understand required security controls, policies and ensure that they get implemented consistently across the Rogers
  • Liaise with leaders across the Rogers IT, Finance and our Business Units to ensure our cloud strategy and services are able to meet current and future requirements


Skills and Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with Cloud and Infrastructure solutions and 10+ years of progressive business experience and team leadership
  • MBA considered an asset
  • Azure Fundamentals/AWS Cloud Practitioner Certifications
  • FinOps.org certification considered an asset
  • Professionally develop business relationships with leaders from external companies of all sizes
  • Strong communications skills – translate technical concepts for a broad audience and communicate at an Exec level
  • Knowledge of cloud design patterns, cloud security controls implementations, cloud operations and cloud cost models with experience implementing best practices or suggested improvements
  • Experience suggesting competitive and innovative technical decisions, obtaining client buy-in and delivering on commitments
  • Experience with public cloud architecture, cloud strategy, migration patterns and tools
  • Experience with various enterprise applications and IT services
