Director Part Time

Are you passionate about news? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment? Do you love TV production? Then CityNews is looking for you!  We have an opening for a Part-Time Casual Director with our CityNews production team in Vancouver.  

 

What you will do:

 

  • Responsible for switching live and pre-recorded productions in an automated Ross Overdrive-equipped control room
  • Operate Ross Acuity Switcher with TD4 Control Panel connected to Grass Valley server, Xpression,  Tria and Cue -IT Prompter
  • Oversee audio mixing and output with proper understanding of Loudness Standards
  • Responsible for routing of video signals and monitoring feeds
  • Assume leadership role in control room, including mentoring and coaching talent and crew
  • Ensure programs and segments meet company and industry standards for content and quality
  • Operate Vinten robotic studio pedestals and heads. Colour balance and frame cameras before shows.
  • Maintain studio lighting, replace dead bulbs, operate ETC Element 2 lighting board.
  • Maintain studio mic / IFB packs, replace batteries between shows.
  • Land Live feeds and send out IFB call in numbers.
  • Other duties as required

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Experience in delivering live shows in an automated control room environment
  • A strong understanding of all control room positions and functions.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure, with multiple deadlines and live shows per night.
  • Ability to adhere to and thrive under tight timelines
  • Ability to make decisions quickly in a live show environment.
  • A motivated, solution-oriented attitude. 
  • An eagerness to innovate and be creative.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
