We are seeking a results-oriented, creative, experienced leader for the role of Editor-in-Chief of Chatelaine, Canada’s #1 magazine.  The ideal candidate will be driven to deliver compelling content that engages readers and drives newsstand sales. A deep knowledge of Canadian lifestyle content and audiences and a strong understanding and appreciation of the Chatelaine brand in Canada are a must. Qualifications include post-secondary education and 8 years experience in a senior editorial role, ideally as Editor-in-Chief.

 

Primary Function:    

·       Provide editorial leadership, vision, and direction to Chatelaine magazine across all platforms: print, digital, radio, and TV.

 

What you will be doing:   

·       Spearhead editorial planning and implementation for Chatelaine    

·       Manage and develop magazine editorial and art teams    

·       Write a monthly letter from the editor, work with senior editors on stories and display copy    

·       Develop and approve story ideas, editorial lineup and magazine covers          

·       Develop agenda for content development for Chatelaine magazine and associated content products.    

·       Manage effective content integration across multiple products and platforms     - Represent Chatelaine in public via media appearances and speaking   engagements.    

·       Moderate conferences and events    

·       Build measurable success and readership of the magazine    

·       Work with Publisher and colleagues in Advertising Sales, Consumer Marketing, Digital, Radio and TV  to broaden the vision of Chatelaine, enhance brand awareness, and improve magazine newsstand and subscription sales

 

What you have:

·       Post secondary degree or diploma, preferably in journalism    

·       Minimum of 8 years experience as an editor     

·       Proven record of effectively managing an editorial team

·       Excellent editing skills and a proven ability to produce strong display copy   

·       Strong time management and organizational skills    

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills     

·       Must be comfortable working under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
