The Equipment Engineering Specialist works very closely with the regional planning, construction, and operations teams to ensure that all required site level details are provided for the successful completion of projects. This position will focus mainly on Headend Node designs for RPHY and XGSPON Deployments. In addition, the role will be accountable for Access Layer Platform (DOCSIS, ROD/SDV/QPSK) deployments in the region.
Who we're looking for:
- The preparation and issue of DDP’s Detail Design Packages and BD Build Documents
- Creating site specific rack elevations, detailed wiring diagrams, and cable run lists
- Preparation and submission of detailed equipment lists (MOR, MRF)
- Verify Space, Power, and Cooling
- Vet all documentation and test plans
- Tracking projects to ensure deliverables are on schedule and on budget
- Providing project updates in various workflow tools and weekly Project management meetings as required
- Documentation of all additions or changes to the Network including Spatialnet and data files
- Receive, Verify and update project as-built’s
- Capacity Planning, Identification and design
- Visiting Head End sites and completing site surveys for equipment installation
- Generating purchase orders for contractors
- Accountability for quality control of all network inventory tools supporting access layer plans
- Remain current with the latest company and industry technologies, policies and standards.
What you bring:
- Practical Head End or Data Center experience
- Knowledge of all HFC platforms and inside plant design and construction practices.
- Understanding of all analog, digital and other network transport technology and systems.
- Five years of CATV or related network industry experience.
- Post-secondary education in Electronics or Telecommunications or equivalent industry experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and the associated software.
- Working level ability with Autocad (Spatialnet)
- Familiar with standard computer hardware and interfaces.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
