We’re looking for two… Full-Stack Developers in our Media Innovation Lab at Rogers Sports & Media!

Experimentation is at the heart of innovation and is essential to the creation of new ideas, concepts, and products. At Rogers Sports & Media, we want to advance the state-of-the-art in content consumption and create truly personalized experiences to delight our customers. To help service that mandate, we have launched a Media Innovation Lab and are looking for two Full-Stack Developers to contribute to this dynamic team.

Full-Stack Developers in the Media Innovation Lab will be part of a lean skunkworks team to evaluate, scope and develop prototypes that challenge creative and technical boundaries. Drawing on broad development experience, you will plan and build prototypes that bring concepts to life and show potential value for all areas of the business including our sports, news, entertainment and multi-channel retail properties. Everyone on the team will be change agents promoting a culture of experimentation and will have a high degree of collaboration with internal and external partners to amplify our innovation capabilities.

The Media Innovation Lab will emulate a start-up culture where team-members will perform a diverse set of tasks to ensure our success—an amazing opportunity for someone who thrives on a challenge and is happiest when disrupting the status quo.

What you will do...

  • Taking a human centered approach, you will work on prototyping solutions for innovative products, services and processes. You will have the ability to co-create with Rogers Sports & Media’s strategic partners (internal and external) through design sprints and workshops with the potential to see your work in the hands of customers.
  • Use rapid prototyping methodologies to design, build and test concepts
  • Work with internal and external partners to build a rich development ecosystem to support testing a diverse set of concepts
  • Participate in all phases of the innovation process to help define feasibility, viability and scope of experiments
  • Apply concepts, industry research, best practices, agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Gather data and feedback to share outcomes of experiments

What you will bring…

  • Fluent in Agile and Rapid Prototyping practices
  • Expert understanding of JavaScript and its frameworks; Angular, React, Vue etc.
  • Experience working with standard cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google etc.)
  • Full understanding of NPM & Node.js
  • Experience with native mobile development (Android and iOS)
  • Familiarity with data technologies such as no-SQL or distributed databases (Hadoop, Spark etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills to share work and demonstrate outcomes so business partners get the necessary insights to make informed decisions
  • A highly collaborative nature to build strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • A sense of curiosity to work with new technologies outside of your existing expertise
  • 5G technology
  • Media technologies (video & audio streaming, OTT etc.)
  • AR/VR and second screen experiences
  • Systems and/or workflow automation
