SUMMARY


 

The Toronto Blue Jays Organization is seeking hard-working individuals with a dedication to customer service and a passion for enhancing the fan experience. This role requires a willingness to assist fans in a polite, friendly manner, and strong interpersonal communication skills.

Gate Staff are primarily responsible for the entry process of fans, from crowd flow outside gates, admission of fans upon presentation of a valid ticket, provide assistance around mobile ticket access and warmly direct fans upon entry. Ideal candidates have some experience working with people in a customer-service capacity.

 

Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 80% of all regular season home games, and 35% (or as needed) of any other events including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. Staff are also expected to attend a pre-game/event meeting 30 minutes prior to gates open. 

 

This is a part-time contract position from January to November with the possibility of extension.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


 

  • Greet and assist all fans with a welcoming, friendly attitude
  • Assist fans with scanning tickets for verification and ensuring that only valid ticket holders are allowed entry to Rogers Centre
  • Direct fans towards their seating area, or any other desired location, such as concessions or Jays Shop
  • Receive and act on any fan complaints with a warm attitude and problem-solving approach
  • Maintain an understanding of Rogers Centre policies and procedures, and act accordingly
  • Oversee crowd flow and line management outside gates
  • Address any fan inquiries in a polite and professional manner
  • Report any incident (major or minor) on an Incident Report Card and submit report to your supervisor

 

QUALIFICATIONS:


 

  • Excellent problem solving and judgment skills
  • Strong ability to be assertive and influential
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills complimented with a friendly and professional manner
  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
  • Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Available to work 80% of all scheduled regular season home games including evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Available to work a minimum of 35%, or as needed, other events
  • Basic familiarity with mobile devices and navigating apps
  • Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment while standing/walking indoors/outdoors for 3-4 hour shifts
  • Successful candidates must be 18 years of age or older

 

As a condition of hire, all new employees will be required to provide proof of vaccinations against COVID 19 or undergo regular testing. Any request for an exception under Human Rights legislation must be supported by evidence to be considered by Toronto Blue Jays on a case by case basis.
