Rogers Digital is looking for an Inclusive Design Manager to lead the Accessibility portfolio as part of our digital transformation.  The ideal candidate will be well versed in Canadian and WCAG accessibility standards with experience defining and communicating a11y requirements to Design, Development and QA audiences.  This role will be part of the Design Operations team, empowering our stakeholders and providing visibility to leadership on our Accessibility needs and accomplishments. 

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Produce, curate and socialize Accessibility principles targeted to Product, Development and QA audiences.   
  • Work ‘upstream’ with go to market and project management to build accessibility scoping into our product planning and delivery processes.
  • Consult with Development and UXD practitioners on accessible design principles in both project and daily work streams.  
  • Audit work produced by Design and Development teams for WCAG and AODA compliance, providing feedback that remediates and empowers future work. 
  • Collaborate with the Design System team to provide detailed guidance on component design and validate work before release to production.   
  • Produce reports on accessibility compliance and recommendations to senior stakeholders. 

 

Skills and Experience

  • University or College design diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Strong understanding of current assistive technology, supporting software and barriers of entry for people with vision, hearing and mobility limitations.
  • Thorough understanding of Accessibility software tools such as Siteimprove, JAWS, ZoomText and Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking.     
  • Effective working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and AODA standards to provide in the moment analysis and actionable recommendations.   
  • CPACC, WAS or CPWA certification preferred  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UX and UI design process.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
