Toronto Blue Jays - Jays Care Foundation – Bilingual Program Facilitator

At Jays Care Foundation we believe that baseball has the power to create lasting social change for children and youth. That's why we help kids get involved in the game, build safe spaces in which they can play, and design and deliver baseball for development programs that help kids develop life skills they need to succeed.

 

Jays Care Foundation is looking for an energetic, passionate, and experienced Bilingual Program Facilitator to support the implementation of a variety of Jays Care workshops and programs across the country. The Bilingual Program Facilitator role will primarily focus on ensuring that a wide range of Jays Care workshops and resources for educators and program leaders are available in French.  

 

Candidates should have experience facilitating dynamic workshops for adults and should come with exceptional confidence in oral and written French and English. This role is based in Toronto, ON, and requires regular in-office hours, however it also involves some travel and some remote work that requires a strong understanding of technology. Candidates should have access to a reliable internet connection and a designated workspace.

The #1 goal of the Bilingual Program Facilitator is to help maintain Jays Care’s exceptional reputation by being the primary French-speaking liaison with some of our most valued beneficiaries, partners and decision-makers.

 

REPORTS TO: Director, Programs

CONTRACT DURATION: 6 Months (November 2021 – April 2022) – with the possibility of extension

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Up to 10%

COMPENSATION: $20/hour, 35 hours per week

 

JAYS CARE FOUNDATION’S BILINGUAL PROGRAM FACILITATOR CONTRACT is for an individual who is looking to:

  • gain valuable work experience in the non-profit sector;
  • gain valuable work experience liaising with grassroots organizations, schools and Executive leaders;
  • learn a tremendous amount and enhance their facilitation skills; and
  • work tirelessly to support positive outcomes for children facing barriers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

PLANNING AND FACILITATION OF SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND INCLUSION-FOCUSED WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS (% of Time: 35%)

  • Participate in onboarding and Jays Care training to enhance skills as dynamic adult facilitator in a variety of our program curriculums
  • Support the facilitation of a series of virtual and in-person workshops in English for educators, programmers and youth staff
  • Lead the facilitation of a series of virtual and in-person workshops in French for educators, programmers and youth staff
  • Provide on-going remote support to educators and partners in both English and French

 

REVISION, IMPROVEMENTS AND TRANSLATION OF SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT MANUALS AND RESOURCES FOR ADULTS (% of Time: 35%)

  • Review existing program curriculum and manuals and offer creative insights to enhance the quality of each resource
  • Review the French translations of program curriculum and manuals
  • Create the French translations of workshop presentations
  • Create innovative program resources such as manuals, flyers, posters and other tools that can be used to enhance programming and/or recruitment

 

PROGRAM INTAKE AND OUTREACH WITH SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS (% of Time: 20%) 

  • Become well-versed in all of our core programs (Challenger Baseball, Girls At Bat, Rookie League, Field of Dreams, Indigenous Play Ball), in order to effectively field all questions (in both English and French) and serve as intake liaison for interested organizations and schools;
  • Answer the Jays Care intake phone line and respond to all intake email requests, handling intake inquiries with professionalism and supporting registration in appropriate programs;
  • Send key outreach messaging to all new prospected contacts to help grow awareness of our programs;
  • Support large scale initiatives with key national program partners;

 

PROGRAM DIRECTOR SUPPORTS (% of Time: 10%)

  • Support the Program Director in various scheduling initiatives - including meeting prioritization, travel bookings and workflow suggestions;
  • Assist in the preparation of major documents, emails and presentations, proof reading and drafting where required;

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Social Work, Equity Studies, Administration, or related field i.e. human services, health or education
  • Bilingualism in French required
  • 1+ year working with children and/or youth living in historically marginalized communities
  • Experience coordinating or planning programs for children and/or youth
  • Experience facilitating workshops for adults

 

DESIRED (ASSET): 

  • Strong technology skills with competency in excel, salesforce and different online communications platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
  • Superior communication skills; written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and coordination skills 
  • Strong ability to work and solve problems independently
  • Willingness to work outside of regular 9-5 schedule and have a flexible schedule
  • Highly motivated and committed to program success
  • Good team work ethic and capable of working independently
