What is the opportunity?

The Rogers Legal Department is currently looking to fill a full time Legal Counsel position on a 1-year contract based at the company’s Head Office in Toronto.  The position will be remote until the department returns to the office sometime in September. The Legal Counsel will join a strong, dynamic and collaborative team of legal professionals. The position will support the Rogers for Business client group and report to Senior Counsel.  

What will you do?

  • Draft and negotiate large business customer and supplier contracts;
  • Review RFPs and provide recommendations and risk assessments to support the sales and RFP-response teams;
  • Provide legal advice, guidance, and contract analysis to internal clients, including the sales and product teams, as well as members of the executive team;
  • Collaborate with other members of the legal team and the department as a whole;
  • Develop and draft standard form agreements; and
  • Provide creative solutions to business problems, while limiting risk to the company.

What do you bring?

  • Exceptional legal skills and knowledge, including in the areas of commercial and contract law, negotiation, and technology;
  • At least 4 years post-call legal experience gained in private practice and/or in-house, including in contract drafting and negotiation;
  • Superior analytical, negotiation, drafting and communication skills (both written and oral);
  • Excellent judgement, time management skills, strategic and practical thinking;
  • Ability to explain complex legal issues in simple non-legal terms; 
  • Strong business acumen;
  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach;
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, OneNote, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • JD/LLB from a recognized law school, called to the Bar and membership in applicable law society.
  • Experience acquired in the telecommunications industry and the ability to read and write in both French and English would be assets.
