Chatelaine, Canada’s leading women’s media brand, is seeking a talented candidate to join its dynamic team as Lifestyle Editor. We are looking for an energetic editor with senior-level experience to oversee the planning, packaging and production of multi-platform editorial content across our lifestyle verticals: Food, Home and Style. Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, the Lifestyle Director will work closely with the Chatelaine Kitchen, Home and Style teams, and art department to plan and execute exciting, smart, and visually engaging content across platforms. The ideal candidate is an ideas person who understands editorial packaging for online, video and print; has significant experience as a handling editor and a keen interest in lifestyle service, particularly food. She/he is willing to experiment with new ways of interacting with readers; thrives on creativity and innovation; has a desire to think beyond traditional publishing borders; and has a positive, team-focused attitude.


What you will be doing:

  • Lead Chatelaine’s Food, Home and Style verticals: Plan and produce innovative editorial content for online, video and print, and develop a signature, unified voice and sensibility
  • Grow the audience for Chatelaine’s digital lifestyle content
  • Monitor analytics and collaborate with Chatelaine experts and the art department to create ingenious, engaging service packages that will resonate with our audience
  • Serve as top editor on all lifestyle copy
  • Help oversee production of Food, Style and Home videos
  • Develop and manage a roster of lifestyle writers
  • Ensure the Chatelaine Food, Home, Style departments are on budget
  • Represent Chatelaine on TV broadcasts, in Chatelaine videos, on social media and at events
  • Manage relationships with key industry contacts
  • Traffic pitches from both established writers and new talent


What you will bring:

  • Minimum of five years of senior-level editorial experience, ideally working across platforms (digital, video, print)
  • Superb technical editing skills and a proven ability to collaborate with writers and designers to produce smart, exciting editorial packages
  • Proven expertise in lifestyle journalism, with a special emphasis on food
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with a creative team and work independently
  • Willingness to occasionally work outside of regular office hours
  • Broadcast experience, particularly in television, is an asset
  • Familiarity with WordPress is an asset
