Position: Manager Transportation Operations
Job Overview:
The Manager Transportation Operations, reports to the Director of Supply Chain Operations and is responsible for delivering leadership and operational excellence in the areas of inbound and outbound transportation, and customs and trade compliance. In this role, you will leverage your extensive expertise in logistics and operations management to optimize our transportation network and enhance operational efficiency. You will work closely with Supply Chain Distribution Management, Procurement and various Business Units (Wireless, Residential, Network, Media, Sports) to deliver superior service, drive innovation and continuous improvement to our customers. Your leadership will be critical in developing a high-performing team and implementing best practices across all transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the management of transportation operations, including planning, execution, and optimization of logistics processes while, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies
Foster relationships with external partners, including carriers, third-party logistics providers, vendors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance, service quality, and operational effectiveness
Lead the development and delivery of financial plans and annual budgets related to the Transportation function.
Lead cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination with Distribution, Customer Care and Business units
Utilize advanced data analytics to assess key performance metrics (KPIs), and identify and drive decisions for continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service levels, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency
Leverage Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize operational workflows
Support initiatives and processes relating to transportation security to reduce infractions related to shortfalls and damages
Partner with Procurement colleagues on all transportation related sourcing events and strategic negotiations
Mentor and develop a high-performing transportation operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation and continuous improvement
Provide oversight of customs related functions including brokers, to ensure compliance with CBSA regulations and corporate policies
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in transportation or logistics operations, with a proven track record of leadership and strategic planning
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field, Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field would be an asset
Certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or similar are a plus
In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to leverage data in identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels
Strong working knowledge of customs and trade compliance
Demonstrable results managing carrier and 3PL relationships
Working knowledge of Accounting and Finance, as it relates to Supply Chain Operations
Understanding of supply chain and logistics principles, including demand forecasting and inventory management
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau/Power BI). Experience with transportation management (TMS) and route optimization software would be an asset
Knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle and/or SAP and their integration with transportation operations would be strongly desired.
Familiarity with ERP systems
Familiarity with data visualization tools to present operational insights
Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage complex projects, and prior experience leading and motivating teams
Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic and evolving environment
Collaborative mindset with a focus on fostering teamwork and partnerships
