The Manager, Strategy will work within the Corporate Strategy group and strategy and planning leads embedded across our business unit leaders to address challenging strategic and operational questions.  Our team supports long term business decisions, generates insights into the performance of our business, and serves as a knowledge base of current and future industry dynamics.  By joining our team, you will build your skills in data analysis, financial modeling, effective verbal and written communication, project management, and research. The work environment is team-based, requiring the individual to be able to manage project teams and work in a collaborative environment.
 

What you will do: 
 

Problem Solving & Insight: Lead analysis and provide well-supported conclusions to help resolve business choices

  • Identify, frame and syndicate the specific challenges and opportunities facing Rogers
  • Shape the analysis and outline key steps required to resolve specific issues
  • Build accurate financial and analytical models and synthesize insight from this analysis
  • Develop actionable recommendations for key business decisions and/or transactions
  • Quality control the problem solving and conclusions of analysts and senior analysts


Communications & Presence: Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and teams in various mediums and situations

  • Credibly and effectively communicate findings, both orally and in writing
  • Add to debate and dialogue with facts and reason; challenge assumptions and inputs
  • Lead working sessions with extended team and senior business leaders
  • Remain calm and demonstrate confidence in tough interactions and stressful situations


Project Management: Lead large projects with cross-functional teams

  • Develop work-plans to coordinate cross-team activities; delegate to and manage extended teams accordingly
  • Produce personally and manage others to produce quality deliverables on time and as committed
  • Implement agreed upon solutions, managing stakeholders and project activities to completion
  • Multi-task effectively, juggling multiple projects and/or work-streams at one time


Internal Client Interaction: Build strong relationships with business leads and project team members

  • Manage independently in a variety of circumstances e.g., one-on-one, small groups
  • Serve as strategic thought partner to the Strategy’s senior leadership and business unit senior leadership


Contribution and Collaboration: Work collaboratively and effectively across the organization

  • Facilitate effective interaction across business units and functional lines of business
  • Act independently and take on challenges willingly

 
Talent Development: Help grow and shape a highly engaged business development team

  • Help recruit, mentor and coach junior members of the team

 
What you have:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Secondary degree/diploma/certification or a Master’s degree an asset
  • 3 to 6+ years work experience in strategy, at a management consulting firm, investment bank, or similar Business Development roles
  • Experience within large complex organizations and/or the telecommunication industry an asset
  • Proven analytical, financial modeling and problem solving skills
  • Ability to resolve complex challenges and deliver effective solutions
  • Experience managing project teams
  • Strong communications (written & oral) and interpersonal skills; a proven and willing collaborator
  • Strong presence - confident and comfortable working with senior management / executives; an ability to navigate difficult situations through relationship building and by influencing others
  • Strong time management capabilities, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and objectives
  • Strong sense of initiative and a self-starter who can work equally well in groups or on their own
  • Results oriented, flexible and willing to work in a multi-task and dynamic work environment
  • Dynamic, disciplined, and efficient, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm
  • Comfort with ambiguity
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
