The Manager, Safety will be based in Toronto and will report to the Senior Director, Safety & Well-being.

The Manager is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a national Safety & Well-being Strategy. The Manager will also lead, guide and support Rogers business units across Canada in the development of their safety programs, with a focus on Retail, Corporate Real Estate, Supply Chain and other support services, and on helping Rogers businesses to maintain compliance with applicable Federal and Provincial legislation.

What you will do:

  • Participate in the development of strategic safety & well-being objective-setting for the organization, and facilitate development of safety & well-being business plans with leaders in various operating companies, including budgeting;
  • Develop, implement and monitor safety procedures and other risk mitigation programs;
  • Provide strategic safety advice, reports and briefs to executives, business partners and line managers in relation to a variety of hazards including work at heights, workplace violence, confined space safety, electrical safety, ergonomics, driving, working alone, mental health, etc.;
  • Support internal and external audits and regulatory investigations to help ensure compliance with applicable Acts, Regulations, Rogers policies and other commitments, and recognized industry standards;
  • Support the objectives of the broader Safety & Well-being team, including disability management, accessibility, and physical & mental well-being;
  • Partner with other functions (e.g. Human Resources, Organizational Development, Procurement) to develop sustainable risk reduction initiatives;
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the full Safety & Well-being team, including peers.

What we are looking for:

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in Occupational Health and Safety or relevant science-based degree
  • At least five years of experience managing Safety. Experience in the telecommunications industry an asset
  • Strong aptitude for developing relationships and influencing stakeholders
  • Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and recognized industry standards. Knowledge of Federal legislation is an asset
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal need for supervision, including excellent initiative and follow-through skills
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Windows applications, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • CRSP or CHSC designation is an asset
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
