Managing Digital Editor, Hello! Canada

 

Hello! Canada, Canada’s leading weekly celebrity and lifestyle brand, is looking for a seasoned editor to develop and manage online content. We offer readers a beautiful escape from every day stresses with of-the-moment royal and celebrity news presented in a positive and uplifting manner in our weekly magazine, at hellomagazine.ca and across our social media channels.


The successful candidate will be a content leader with clear creative vision and a proven record of data-driven thinking, sound judgment and accomplishment across platforms (site, social media, newsletters, video, etc.).  With a team of writers and social editors, they will create unique, cutting-edge celebrity, royalty, fashion & lifestyle stories, galleries, videos and microsites for distribution to a wide audience,

ensuring that Hello’s standards of accuracy, integrity and excellence are reflected across all content pillars. The ability to juggle multiple projects yet stay calm under pressure must be part of your DNA.

Responsibilities:
• Manage digital projects, including content, newsletters, special projects, social media
• Use analytics and SEO tools to plan content, ensuring audience interest, brand integrity and consistency across print, social media, newsletter and video
• Write and edit content 

• Collaborate with other departments across Rogers Media, including audience development and branded content teams

• Work ahead to plan and execute major tentpole initiatives throughout the year 
• Liaise with international HOLA content teams to improve site, identify and fix bugs, build microsites

• Manage digital team including digital editor, social editors and freelance contributors

 
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of digital editorial experience

• Excellent writing, reporting, editing, story development and visual skills
• Strong understanding of social media and emerging digital tools for reporting and storytelling
• Strong understanding of SEO tools and digital analytics 

• Experience using a CMS 
• Strong time-management, organizational and planning skills 
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, creative and collaborative work environment

• Experience managing people and budgets preferred

• Experience scripting and producing videos an asset
