If you speak Arabic fluently and have a passion for news, then OMNI news wants to meet you. We are looking for a talented Full-time Producer to lead a team of journalists who deliver stories that resonate with Canada’s Arabic community. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the Arabic community in Canada, strong background in journalism and a passion for innovation in news coverage.
 

What you will be doing:

• Lead a team of journalists to produce a national newscast for Canadians who speak Arabic

• Guide daily and long-term editorial plans of the Arabic team including coverage of breaking news and development of original stories

• Take a lead role in vetting content to make sure it meets editorial standards

• Develop and coach the team to maximize performance

• Write daily stories and promos, when needed

• Work with the digital team to increase OMNI’s digital footprint

• Collaborate with Rogers Sports & Media teams in the production of content

• Build a strong network within the Arabic-Canadian community

What you will bring:

• Speak fluently in Modern Arabic, read and write Arabic script, and have a minimum basic working knowledge of English

• You have a deep understanding of the Arabic community in Canada

• You have strong editorial judgement and know how to vet stories for different platforms

• You have experience managing a newsroom and people.

• You know how a TV newsroom works, live news and control room experience is an asset 

• You are willing to explore new ideas and approaches to content and production

• You are an excellent communicator, especially in pressure situations

• You are a collaborator and believe in team work
