We are looking for a Product Owner, Mobile Apps on the Digital Customer Experience team at Rogers Bank.  The Digital Customer Experience team’s core focus is to make the self-serve customer experience for Rogers Bank customers the best it can be. Our customers want effortless access to functionality and information at their fingertips on their mobile devices and we build the experiences to do that. As a member of the broader Financial and Emerging Services team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with product, content, design, experience, technology, marketing, and other partners to evolve the business.  


Who are you: 

You are a seasoned Product Owner, with experience in the Canadian Banking industry, as well as android and iOS app development. You look at technology, and product development, as an avenue to create meaningful connections between people, their mobile devices, and their bank. You are comfortable with complex large-scale banking systems and have numerous years of experience in this space.  You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are adaptable but can also deal with process and controls. You’re a champion of Agile ways of working and the product development lifecycle, and a champion of the customer experience in all things that you do.


What will you do:

  • You will be part of the Rogers Bank Digital Customer Experience team building our mobile app product that gives our Bank customers a unified view of their Rogers Bank credit card(s) and future products as required. As the Product Owner, Mobile App you will have a leading role in the team. You will be a key player in driving the addition of key functionalities that will enhance our customer experience. This will involve:
  • Defining the product roadmap and communicating the product vision
  • Launching functionality that encourages credit card customers to self-serve, putting key functions at their fingertips
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to ensure the product aligns with the needs of the business and our frontline agents
  • Take a leadership role in working with and liaising with business partners, other Technology Solutions organizations and external vendors to define business and technical requirements.
  • Leading a Scrum Team and actively participating in sprint ceremonies to provide day-to-day guidance and support
  • Prioritizing the product backlog and collaborating with stakeholders and technology leaders to define work in the product backlog
  • Leading epic and user story creation and ensuring that stories include clear acceptance criteria and business value
  • Working with the Scrum Masters, Vendors, Cross functional squads and Tech Directors (as needed) to plan sprints and manage team capacity to complete backlog work
  • Accepting work completed by the team during the Sprint and ensuring that it meets the Definition of Done
  • Managing and reporting on the team budget
  • Actively monitoring, troubleshooting, and looking for opportunities to enhance product performance / experience
  • Ensuring Business Recovery Plans are in place. Integrate technical solutions with the business
  • environment, recognizing systems design and data interdependencies and reusability.
  • Managing product dashboards to measure success against KPIs and using data to make decisions 
  • Conduct pre and post implementation reviews, ensuring all technical solutions have met business requirements.
  • Provide user documentation, user training, and post implementation support.  Collaborate with
  • business leaders, IT professionals, and vendors ensuring that management is kept informed of
  • project status and that problems and issues are escalated appropriately and clearly communicated.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • The Product Owner is a core member of the Scrum Team who is empowered to make product decisions and is focused on maximizing the value of the product to the Customer. They own the product backlog and create & communicate the product roadmap. They are accountable for KPIs and E2E product experience. We are looking for someone who:
  • Has 5+ years business experience in the implementation of digital capabilities with an emphasis on customer experience
  • Has experience in launching digital assets with Canadian Credit FI.
  • Can make time-boxed decisions on scope and priority to keep the team moving
  • Quick study: ability to acquire product expertise / technical acumen in order to understand current & desired product experience as well as underlying tech & dependencies
  • Able to understand and articulate business value and how work produced by the team drives business value
  • Experience looking at customer/market trends and can think about “what’s next” and strives to innovate and be best-in-class
  • Comfortable interpreting data to provide insight-driven direction
  • Able to analyze issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
  • Proactive and works well collaboratively
  • Self-sufficient and can operate with autonomy
  • Able to deliver results in a rapid-paced, adrenaline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills


Nice to have:

  • University degree/ college diploma
  • Product owner certification (CSPO, POPM)
