SCOPE
Reporting to Manager, Youth Baseball this position is accountable for management of multi-channel youth baseball marketing campaigns with the end goal of supporting, growing, and nurturing youth baseball throughout Canada while achieving business targets. This role will be responsible managing the day to day operations of the Blue Jays Baseball Academy. A focus of this role would be quality control of all on field execution of Blue Jays Baseball Academy programming. This position will play a key role in driving the successful growth of the Blue Jays Baseball Academy brand and will leverage Blue Jays Baseball Academy programs to engage youth baseball players, coaches and parents through interactive experiences. The Program Specialist, Youth Baseball will continue to foster strong relationships with Jays Care, Baseball Operations, Corporate Partners, Rogers Centre Events, Marketing, and other departments that contribute to the success and growth of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Baseball Academy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with the Manager of Youth Baseball, develop and draft the Blue Jays Baseball Academy’s short and long-term strategy.
- Contribute to the hiring, training and management of a team of part-time youth baseball developers
- Contribute to the direction and planning of key strategic partnerships with external partners including Rally Cap with Baseball Canada and sponsorship portfolio.
- Effectively plan, manage and deliver large-scale youth baseball events in support of growing and nurturing Youth Baseball throughout Canada
- Manage all aspects of the event logistics involved with all Blue Jays youth baseball events including Academy Weeks, Instructional Clinics, Canadian Futures Showcase, and CFS Tryouts.
- Successfully engage youth baseball players, coaches, parents and Blue Jays fans through all our Blue Jays Baseball Academy events and programs.
- Engage and partner with internal stakeholders to successfully develop, implement and manage key programs, processes and tools including:
- The support and promotion of youth baseball participation in Canada
- Top of the First, an introduction to diversity, equity and inclusion training series for youth baseball coaches, done in partnership with Jays Care Foundation
- Play Ball Weekend, a league-wide participation blitz designed to encourage baseball participation
- Contribute to budget management and tracking allocation of resources
- Perform other duties as assigned within the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple programs while working collaboratively as a member of the team
- 3+ years in a similar capacity with administrative, sport development, customer service, and event related experience
- Post-secondary education preferred in sport management, business, marketing, or equivalent
- Knowledge of the Toronto Blue Jays and Blue Jays Baseball Academy programs is an asset
- Baseball experience as a player or coach and knowledge of youth baseball in Canada is considered an asset
- Ability to take initiative and assume responsibility to deal with unforeseen circumstances
- Demonstrates technical competence with MS Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other technological applications
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and travel within Canada in support of Blue Jays Baseball Academy events
