Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays, uses the power of baseball to create positive social change in communities across Canada. We are currently looking for passionate and dedicated staff to deliver our RBI programs in Toronto.
Our RBI programs include:
RBI Spring (April to June) – an inclusive baseball/softball program implemented in partnership with schools to remove any barriers that students may face getting into the game. This 10-week program runs afterschool for students in grades 4-8 to participate in weekly practices and organized games.
RBI Summer Edition (July to August) – an initiative that offers daily programming in July and August for over 2500 youth attending Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Elementary Summer School.
If interested, candidates are encouraged to apply for positions within both programs. Based on performance, successful RBI Spring staff will have the opportunity and be encouraged to continue working for RBI Summer Edition.
POSITION TITLE: JAYS CARE RBI SUMMER EDITION INCLUSION COACH
REPORTS TO: Jays Care RBI Summer Edition Supervisor
DURATION: June 23, 2025 – August 13, 2025
PAY: $21/hour
WORK HOURS: 35 hours per week (average)
WORK LOCATIONS: Assigned to one of 13 schools within the Toronto District School Board (applicant will have opportunity to indicate location preference).

THE MISSION: You will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for campers with diverse needs, including newcomers and those with accessibility requirements. You will work collaboratively with the camp staff to ensure that all campers have a positive and enriching experience while addressing individual differences and promoting a sense of belonging for everyone. Duties may include 1:1 support with individual campers, large group integration and program adaptation development to meet needs of campers.
Jays Care RBI Summer Edition Inclusion Coach will:
- Serve as group leader for up to 5 participants with exceptional needs within a larger program site of up to 200 youth
- Work within a smaller Inclusion team of up to 5 staff (Inclusion Coaches and Focus on Youth Staff) within the site
- Serve as a role model to children and staff members, exemplifying leadership, problem solving and conflict resolution, creating a warm, safe, and welcoming presence within all their encounters with staff, youth, and caring adults
- Attend and take part in dynamic training to provide you with all the tools needed to stay motivated and succeed in our mission
- Ensure that effective safety protocols are followed, including physical, emotional, and site safety measures
Specific Inclusion Duties:
- Camp Inclusivity Planning:
- Collaborate with program directors and staff to develop and implement an inclusive camp program that addresses the diverse needs of campers.
- Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere that fosters understanding and respect for individual differences.
- Needs Assessment and Accommodations:
- Conduct needs assessments for campers with special requirements, including newcomers and those with accessibility needs.
- Work with families and or caregivers to gather information about individual campers and develop appropriate accommodations.
- Support and Advocacy:
- Serve as a point of contact for campers, families, and staff regarding inclusion-related concerns.
- Advocate for the needs of individual campers and ensure that appropriate resources and support are provided.
- Foster a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding among camp staff and campers.
- Coordinate with external support services, such as interpreters, sign language interpreters, and accessibility experts, to meet the specific needs of campers.
- Program Adaptations:
- Modify camp activities and programs as needed to ensure that all campers can participate fully.
- Work with activity leaders to provide alternative options and inclusive adaptations.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of inclusion initiatives and make adjustments as necessary.
- Collect feedback from campers, families, and staff to continuously improve the inclusivity of the camp.

- Prior experience working with kids in a camp setting
- Mature and capable of working independently
- Dynamic leader who can engage staff and youth
- Ability to respond to new and changing situations
- Safe, inclusive, and thoughtful
- Open-minded and ready to learn
- Works well in small and large teams
- Track record of sticking to daily routines
- Can ensure the safe organization of an indoor programming space
- First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Have completed Grade 12 or higher by start of the program

All interested applicants should be aware that this is an in-person role, employed by Jays Care with a seasonal fixed-term contract. Camp staff are expected to be present at their designated job site each day of their summer contract, as well as attend all mandatory staff training.
