What you'll do:
- Respond to and chase breaking news
- Attend shoots in the field to conduct interviews or chase developing/breaking news
- Write original content for broadcast and web platforms
- Write news items for broadcast (in English) to support all language shows
- Search for and curate original stories that pertain to OMNI's news audience
- Support with multi-platform rollout of stories, occasionally ensuring online posts are accurate and stylistically sound
- Gather and assemble various media forms, audio, video, and images for broadcast and/or the web
- Keep on top of trending topics and news
- Collaborate to achieve audience and revenue goals
- Work to help respond quickly to relevant news and audience interests
What you will bring:
- Strong understanding of broadcast storytelling
- News background (education or experience)
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of the OMNI brand
- Comfortable in working closely with teammates and brainstorming ideas as a team
- Comfortable working independently with other language teams
- Strong work ethic with excellent written and verbal communication
- An ability to work independently and across teams
- Fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Tagalog, Arabic, Italian, or Portuguese an asset but not requirement
