Senior Director - Media Engineering


Rogers Media is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the role of Senior Director, Media Engineering.  Reporting to the Vice President, Media Technology and Operations, the position will have accountability for the maintenance and sustainability of the day-to-day engineering functions of our many national radio and television facilities.  As a progressive leader, you will support our transition from legacy systems to next generation media tools and platforms.

What you’ll be doing:


  • Lead our national Media Engineering team that provides technical services to all of our Radio and Television operations
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Media Technology & Support to implement next generation tools and platforms
  • Actively participate in defining the long-term technical vision and plan of our business
  • Own the wireless portfolio for Media including transmission facilities, government and community liaison, and long-term strategic planning
  • Shepherd the Media Engineering team through a period of unprecedented technological change in our industry
  • Work closely with Vice President, Media Technology and Operations and Finance to manage and track operating and capital budgets, forecasts, variances and results.


What you have:


  • Solid technical background in next generation media technology backed by at least 10 years of progressive experience in engineering, IT, and/or operations
  • Experience leading large teams (e.g. 50+ staff) with a minimum of 5 direct reports at the managerial level
  • Track record of managing multi-million dollar budgets successfully with accurate tracking and reporting
  • University undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities in high pressure situations
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor individuals on the team
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
