Reporting to the Director, HRBP RSM, the Senior Manager, HRBP is responsible for delivering strategic HR partnership to the RSM leadership team and overseeing day-to-day HR operations that support business objectives. This role plays a critical part in advancing HR strategies, leading major people initiatives, and fostering an engaged, high performing workforce. The Senior Manager will also hold direct accountability for HR leadership within unionized environments, including managing grievances, labour relations strategy, and collective bargaining processes.
What You'll Do:
• Act as the primary HR Business Partner to the Leadership Team, contributing to strategic decisions that drive business performance and organizational effectiveness.
• Lead the HR agenda for the business by using strong HR expertise, deep understanding of operations, and trusted relationships to influence decision-making at all levels.
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with senior leaders (Executive and Director levels), demonstrating the value of HR as a strategic enabler.
• Project manage major people related initiatives aligned to the evolution and growth of RSM; create and execute detailed project plans, track milestones, engage cross functional partners, and communicate progress effectively.
• Develop a thorough understanding of business priorities and challenges to proactively shape HR programs that drive performance, productivity, and cultural alignment.
• Play a central role in developing and executing the RSM strategy and annual people plan.
• Support the labour relations strategy and provide expert guidance to leadership on managing and working within unionized environments, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and legislation.
• Participate and support collective bargaining preparation and negotiation, including costing scenarios, mandate development, drafting proposals, and acting as a key strategic advisor at the bargaining table.
• Coach leaders on the interpretation and application of collective agreements, building confidence and consistency in labour-related decision making.
• Lead high risk and escalated employee relations matters, including legal cases, investigations, STAR hotline complaints, and executive level escalations.
• Ensure consistent outcomes, appropriate use of legal counsel, and compliance with employment law, labour legislation, and internal policies.
• Analyze ER trends to identify root causes, recommend corrective action, and shape improved policies and practices across the enterprise.
• Drive leadership development and succession planning; lead talent review processes and ensure robust follow through on development actions.
• Partner closely with Talent Acquisition and Finance to align on workforce planning metrics, high volume hiring requirements, and headcount management.
• Leverage data to provide reporting, analysis, and recommendations to the RSM leadership and HR team.
• Support performance management, organizational design, compensation decisions, and change management initiatives for the business.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the “pulse” of the organization at all levels, representing employee sentiment and risks back to HR and senior leaders.
• Reinforce Rogers values, culture, and people practices through effective communication, coaching, and leadership alignment.
What You’ll Bring:
• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
• Progressive HR Business Partner experience, including significant experience working with unionized employee groups.
• Demonstrated experience managing grievances, labour relations strategy, and collective bargaining.
• Brings a deep passion for the Canadian sports and entertainment landscape, recognizing the powerful impact that storytelling, news, and entertainment have on audiences across the country.
• Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills with the ability to build trust across all levels, including navigating confidential or sensitive matters.
• Proven ability to operate in a fast paced, matrixed environment and drive results with or without direct authority.
• Strong analytical, problems solving, and negotiation skills; able to understand and navigate complex business issues.
• Ability to manage both high level strategic priorities and detailed operational work.
• Expertise with MS Excel and PowerPoint; strong data literacy.
• CHRP/CHRL designation is considered an asset.
