Senior Manager AML, CAMLO
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Bank's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to the Bank’s AML program, ensuring consistency with industry practices and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of the AML program, reviewing key controls on an ongoing basis to determine areas of improvement.
- Review, assess and advise the business on AML and Sanctions risks and the effectiveness of AML controls associated with new products, services and initiatives; participate in the ongoing development of the initiative where the implementation or enhancement of AML controls is required. Provide input to the business with respect to AML compliance in the context of new initiatives.
- Interface with relevant regulators, including FINTRAC, with respect to Bank’s AML obligations.
- Assess the business' effectiveness in identifying customers with elevated or unacceptable AML and Sanctions risks and managing or escalating issues accordingly.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions and communicate that to assigned business units.
- Provide advisory services and oversight to the business through participation in AML-related forums and the timely response to ad hoc queries.
- Support the delivery of the annual AML training program.
- Contribute to reporting to the Bank’s Board of Directors with respect to AML.
- Manage the review of reporting and reconciliation of reports.
- Support technical excellence by searching out external best practices, monitoring technical and professional developments, sharing knowledge and encouraging others to do the same in the best interests of the team and its stakeholders.
- Take a hands-on approach to coaching with regular and productive use of personal development plans and appropriate follow-up.
What you have:
- Appropriate post-secondary degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in AML, Compliance, business operations and/or Audit; or its equivalent in education and years of experience.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills with solid organizational and time management capabilities.
- Significant knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices regarding AML and compliance practices, and internal control frameworks and risk standards, such as FINTRAC and OSFI.
- Ability to work in small teams with commitment and engagement, like an actual owner and hands-on partner.
- Highly developed analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to transform overarching objectives into an executable plan, identifying and removing barriers to success.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization with an open, honest and direct communication style.
