Senior Manager, Credit Risk – Rogers Bank


Job Description

The Senior Manager will be a key member of the Credit Risk Management team and will lead the design and execution of credit risk strategies across the entire customer lifecycle. The position will directly influence credit loss performance, risk appetite and business objectives of the Rogers Bank’s credit card portfolio.




  • Accountable for the development, execution and monitoring of credit risk strategies across acquisition and account management in order to perform within loss targets and risk appetite limits - while supporting portfolio and revenue growth.
  • Coordinate monthly credit risk reporting package for presentation to the Credit Risk Committee, covering portfolio trends, performance drivers, key initiatives, and risk proposals.
  • Manage and monitor the nature, composition, and quality of the Bank’s credit portfolio to ensure adherence to risk appetite and expected losses.
  • Determine strategy changes required to maximize profitability and maintain portfolio within credit risk appetite using statistical/analytical methods; provide recommendations to improve and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Establish and deploy predictive models, including custom and generic scores  to support new and existing account risk management strategies
  • Manage key vendors to support credit risk systems, operations, analytics, and scoring.
  • Evaluate Expected Credit Loss (ECL) estimations under IFRS9; review and challenge methodology and output.
  • Embed ECL methodologies in credit risk decisions to optimize risk and return
  • Quantify and report on results from champion challenger strategies prior-to and post implementation
  • Liaise with finance and other teams to quantify incremental impact of credit risk strategies in order to reflect effects on plan and financial tracking
  • This position may play a leadership role by managing a team of direct and indirect reports to support its mandate


Required Qualifications


  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressively responsible roles in consumer credit risk analytics and data mining required preferably within a consumer finance and/or credit card environment;
  • Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent quantitative field;
  • Strong data analysis skills must include analytical tools such as SAS, Knowledge Studio, Enterprise Miner, Python or R. Proficient with the use of database querying tools such as SQL;
  • Sound analytical and business acumen with an ability to combine quantitative and common-sense problem solving skills;
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft office applications - advanced Excel (knowledge of macros-VBA and pivot tables);
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in order to address technical and non-technical audiences effectively;
  • Self-starter, able to manage and prioritize multiple complex tasks with minimum supervision with strong attention to detail;


Desired Qualifications and Experience


  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Quantitative field;
