The Senior Manager, Data Governance, will act as a data governance lead to execute adoption and oversight over data mamagement activities for the entire Rogers Bank (the “Bank”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rogers Communications Inc. The role is ideal for someone interested in joining an iconic Canadian brand with an entrepreneurial environment. The Senior Manager, Data Governance, is responsible for implementing and monitoring adherence with the data governance policy, standards, and procedures in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders across the Rogers Bank ecosystem and data lifecycle.

 

How You’ll Succeed:

  • Drive a culture of accountability, data integrity and fact-based decision making and contribute to enhanced operational efficiency using past and present experience including best practices to execute data governance methodologies

  • Provide guidance to business on data governance and data management requirements to meet policy and standards and operationalize data governance capabilities at Rogers Bank

  • Advanced knowledge and practical experience on data quality, master data management, reference data, metadata, data change management, data classification and data profiling, and data provisioning

  • Execute and manage DQ testing and reporting, DQ issues management, metadata repository (business glossary, data dictionary, data lineage, data elements registration and attestations, and stewardship console/dashboard)

  • Identify, prioritize, action and escalate any data governance and data management related risks within Rogers Bank ​

  • Develop and implement business-specific mechanisms (e.g. processes, procedures, metrics, roadmaps, data strategies, etc.) required to execute and adhere to the Data Management Policy and all associated Standards

  • Stand up data domains with stewardships to improve / mature Data Governance and Data Management processes and practices within Rogers Bank

  • Develop key metrics & reporting, and monitor the effectiveness of data governance.

  • Lead and develop communication and training plans around the awareness and adoption of data governance, the Data Management Policy, and procedures

  • Responsible for data related risk management activities, regulatory and audit findings and support the review providing input into management response letters and remediation plans

  • Engage appropriate stakeholders required to support any matters or processes related to data governance under their stewardship​

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Warehousing and Data Lakes, or Data Analytics area

  • Certification in Data Management, Data Governance or Data Analytics/Big Data, Data Maturity Model (DMM) is an asset.  Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience may be considered.

  • Advanced knowledge and use of Collibra

  • Relevant industry experience in either banking, payment cards, credit cards, technology or  experience in Financial Services a plus

  • Broad and deep understanding of Data Architecture and Solution Design, Data Management Tools and their relevance to Data Governance

  • Strong understanding and experience in the data lifecycle, metadata, data lineage, business glossary and data dictionalry, data quality and data profiling, master and reference data, and issue remediation

  • Proven ability to design, and execute, change management programs that improve business adoption

  • Experience in project planning and execution, including scoping, budgeting, risk / issue management, and data strategy

  • Consultative leadership mindset, analytical, and thrive at and enjoy problem-solving

  • Strong verbal & written communication skills, ability to convey complex ideas with ease
