 ideas, developmental information, easy family recipes, cool DIYs and best product picks on every platform and device parents use. We know you only have a few minutes--and are likely sleep-deprived--so we keep our content conversational, helpful and to the point. We try to make you laugh now and then, because humour makes it all so much easier. As the biggest parenting brand in Canada, we lead the discussion about whatever’s trending in your world and connect with our readers constantly.

 

We are looking for an energetic, experienced editor to oversee our large social media audience of more than two million engaged parents. Reporting to the Deputy Editor, the social media editor will build our followers, draw readers to our content, and engage and grow our community. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who also lives and breathes Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest; is willing to experiment with new ways of interacting with readers; thrives in a fast-paced environment; and has a desire to think beyond traditional publishing borders and a positive, team-focused attitude.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategy to grow and monetize social media audience across platforms
  • Engage community daily, passing on and responding to feedback as needed
  • Represent Today’s Parent and hone the voice of the brand on social
  • Script and host Twitter parties, both sponsored and editorial
  • Increase engagement across social platforms, implementing and revising best practices
  • Stay on top of industry trends and tools, develop industry relationships and identify opportunities to collaborate with

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of editorial experience, must include digital and social media
  • Demonstrated talent for creative approaches to digital/social storytelling
  • Strong awareness of key industry trends and contacts 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Experience with CMS, HootSuite, metrics tools like Google Analytics or Adobe Omniture
  • Exceptional organization skills
