The Solution Specialist, DC Partner Engagement & Enablement will report to the Senior Manager, Data Centre in the Rogers Solution Centre of Excellence. The purpose of the role is to ensure acceleration of Data Centre sales within Rogers’ Partner Channel nationally to meet the budget and top line growth targets. This role will work with Partner Business Managers, VARs and Dealers across the country to drive Data Centre solution sales, help to build strategic partnerships, sales tactics, and close training gaps.  

The candidate must have a strong understanding and experience with the data centre industry, server and storage architecture, as well as cloud and their demand to satisfy business applications and management systems.  This also includes applications that reside on customer premise, in data centres or in the cloud. 

What you'll be doing:

Partner Identification, Enablement & Training:

  • Work with Partner Business Mangers to identify existing and new channel partners who will promote Rogers Data Centre services. 
  • Act as the liaison between the Partners and internal Data Centre teams. 
  • Assist the Sales Development team in facilitating training and creating tools for the partner channel.  Specifically accountable for; Product & Services training, Day to Day Tools, Systems and Process training, etc
  • Identify the need for, create and deliver supplemental training as required
  • Identify skill gaps and process gaps within the organization, working with internal teams to improve the Partner and Customer experience. 

Sales Opportunity Participation:

  • Work strategically with our Partner Sales teams, leveraging your technical & business knowledge to promote and win business in competitive situations
  • Actively participate in customer meetings as required, reviewing the customer’s requirements using a consultative approach.
  • Record/document all requirements and outcomes from meetings
  • Leverage all Rogers resources to help you design and document the best possible Rogers solution(s) based on the customer requirements (business, budgetary and technical).
  • Clearly communicate the value of your solution to the prospective customer and promote the benefits of and endorse Rogers in collaboration with the Partner; Product demonstrations, Data Centre tours, Solution presentations
  • Clearly communicate how best to differentiate Rogers against the competition in each given scenario
  • Ensure appropriate setting of customer expectations with respect to product solution, Rogers and Customer provisioning activities and reasonable provisioning timelines.

What you bring:

  • Experience in enabling Channel partners for success. 
  • 5 years’ experience in Data Centre industry.
  • Sales experience.
  • Working understanding of Cloud Computing technology, Common Application Design, Network Access technologies, Routing and Switching technology, Network Security, Virtualization Technologies, IT Budgeting and Planning, IT service management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of hardware skills – hardware, installations, troubleshooting, conflicts, etc.
  • Working knowledge VMware, Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of storage and server architecture.
  • Working knowledge of - MS Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook
  • Post-Secondary University education (Bachelors) in IT, Computer Science, Business or related field.
  • Any Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, ITIL, other IT Certification would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and third parties.
  • Ability to sell, persuade and negotiate
  • Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to respond to customer inquiries via telephone as well as email in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical documents and reports.
  • Ability to write technical proposals.
  • Ability to respond to complex RFP documents.
  • Use of a personal vehicle for business purposes is required

Product Focus – the core focus for this position will be in on the following three areas:

Data Centre/Colocation

Rogers owns and operates data centres across Canada and we offer multiple cabinet and cage configuration options, High Availability Network and N+1 or 2N power configuration options. We also carry PCI, CSAE 5970 and SSAE 16 Type II, ISAE 3402 and LEED compliancy and certification. We are the largest provider of Uptime Institute Tier III certified Data Centres in Canada

Cloud Services

Rogers Cloud offers businesses of all sizes an enterprise-grade Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform that is secure, highly available and massively scalable.

Managed Services

Rogers offers a series of best practices that include proactive server monitoring by certified system administrators.  Managed monitoring for outages.  Patch management to keep mission-critical applications current. And network security that can anticipate and stop attacks and damage before they occur.
