Who we're looking for:

Rogers Sports and Media is looking for an experienced data expert to join the Media Insights team to help grow Sportsnet’s Direct to Consumer (“DTC”) digital media businesses: Sportsnet+.

 

This is a unique opportunity to tackle interesting challenges at the intersection of Sports, Entertainment, Data and Technology. You will be part of the team responsible for building, maintaining, evolving and utilizing a data platform to support our fast-growing DTC businesses. This platform is used to leverage the power of data and apply analytics & predictive modelling to drive scale with our products.

 

This role will be key to helping create personalized, best-in-class experiences for our customers. You will be helping change the way Canadians consume live sports content. You will analyze data to discover insights, communicate those insights to other stakeholders and contribute to various data related projects across the organization. You will have experience working intimately with data, as well as an eagerness to work in the sports media and entertainment industry.

 

What you'll do: 

  • Maintain, Build, and Operationalize Data Platforms
  • Document and maintain detailed data dictionary of all new and existing processes
  • Manage and support daily, weekly, monthly data transfers from third party vendors and partners
  • Automate the ingestion of new data sources
  • Ensure integrity of ingested data sources & outputs

 

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Create and maintain regular cadence of internal reporting on the performance of Sportsnet’s DTC streaming businesses
  • Data support for various teams across the organization including: Marketing, Media Sales, and Finance
  • Advanced tracking and analysis of how users consume different sports content across the various leagues (NHL,MLB, NBA etc.)
  • Support the team with insights and analytics to help prioritize the product roadmap and optimize pricing and packaging.
  • Use advanced prescriptive and predictive modelling to assist with efficient customer acquisition and retention tactics
  • Use Machine Learning and data science techniques to evolve customer segmentation and content placement
  • Design and execute modelling experiments (e.g., A/A, A/B, multivariate tests) to assist our product and business teams in developing
  • engaging products and customer offers
  • Ad-hoc analysis to support growth of the DTC business

 

What you bring: 

  • Advanced skills in SQL based languages, Python, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferably within a digital subscription and/or media business
  • A passion for sports and for understanding sports media viewership & behaviours
  • Experience with platforms like Salesforce.com, Zuora, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Localytics, Big Datacloud environments and other similar data, analytics, and CRM platforms/technologies
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Domo/Tableau/Microsoft BI
  • Hands-on data science, modelling and analytics experience implementing and supporting data platforms to support business operations, sales & marketing tactics, and strategic decisions
  • Passion for and deep understanding of sports fans motivations, preferences, and behaviours
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills including sourcing, structuring, manipulating, automating, and Analyzing data of various types
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, simplifying complex & technical topics in a manner understandable to both technical & business stakeholders
