We are looking for a strong leader to join the Digital Media team within Rogers as a Manager, Sports Web Delivery  In this role, you will be responsible for delivering key strategic initiatives through disciplined execution.  The breadth and complexity of these projects cannot be understated.  The successful candidate should be able to oversee the impacts, interdependencies and timelines between functional teams and work to ensure project initiatives meet the goals and objectives set forth by the senior and executive leadership teams. 


What you will do:
•    Provide leadership to the teams developing products powering the Digital Sports platforms 
•    Create a technical roadmap for the products while maintaining technical health 
•    Convert complex technical situations to simplistic explanations and solutions for senior leaders and stakeholders. 
•    Help scale the best practices around usage of the products through education and enforcement. 
•    Provide expert System Design knowledge to ensure platform stability across multiple distributed systems. 
•    Assess, estimate, and architect products and features from ideation to delivery. Keeping a keen eye on reusability, stability, and revenue opportunities 
•    Oversee the development and growth of:  
• – Sportsnet free layer website that supports web users as well as mobile and connected device users through presentation layer and feeds generated via CMS. 
•    Sportsnet Free Layer Data Services – Creating and maintaining microservices that are critical to Sportsnet’s mobile and connected device platforms. 
•    Directly manage, hire, and oversee developers, project manager, business systems analysts and managers. Growing and mentoring these individuals in their career path. 
•    Work with a variety of software vendors to identify and implement key features and functionality that will add value to the department portfolio. 


What you will bring:

•    Proficient with the Agile framework and how teams should be working within it. 
•    Strong understanding of SDLC, software development life cycle, from concept to deployment and monitoring. 
•    Significant experience in multiple full stack domains including devops, data modelling, backend, and frontend services. 
•    Vast knowledge of system design principles with understanding of vertical and horizontal scalability and architectural trade-off decisions. 
•    Proven ability to balance and reconcile the needs of product and business with the longterm vision of technology and software 
•    Track record of managing and mentoring technical teams and progressing the career trajectory of employees. 
•    Capability of breaking down large development projects and prioritizing work against aggressive timelines 
•    Experience working with distributed teams across multiple business verticals 
•    Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills with ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical professionals.
