Senior Director, Business Enablement 


Reporting to the SVP, Digital this position is responsible for driving the business operations in Digital to enable the organization to operate effectively. The Sr. Director, Business Enablement plays a critical role in managing the day-to-day interactions with the Digital Leadership Team, business partners, and various functional partners. They will partner closely with the Digital Leadership Team to provide strategic business guidance, make recommendations on our strategic pillars, and ensure we have the appropriate processes and planning in place to manage a $120M digital portfolio. 


To be successful in this role, the Sr. Director, Business Enablement requires strong business, financial, change management, and program management acumen, as well as an ability to work with senior leaders in a high paced environment managing diverse activities. 


The Sr Director, Business Enablement will manage and lead a team of 20 people across the following pillars: Strategy; Planning & Portfolio Management; Digital Programs & Agile Enablement; People, Brand & Culture and Change Management; and Vendor Management. The successful candidate will have strong coaching and mentoring skills and drives a high performing team.  


What you will do:


Digital Strategy 

  • Responsible and accountable for analysis and recommendations that will be used in the long-term strategic vision and strategy 
  • Develop Digital Strategic Plan based on 0-60 month horizon, plan will incorporate inputs from Digital Leadership Team as well as benchmarks and trends within the market 
  • Communicate and align on strategic plan and direction with the rest of the org, partners and stakeholders including ELT 
  • Ongoing keeper of the detailed analysis and plans behind our strategy and the vision for the strategic pillars 
  • Work with the leaders across Digital to assemble information and data as necessary to support management discussions, including strategy check-ins with the ELT 
  • Operate impartially across business lines to connect initiatives and identify optimization opportunities 


Planning & Portfolio Management 

  • Drive regular alignment with the CDO and Digital Leadership Team on strategic and operational activities and ensure they are in line with overall priorities and objectives 
  • Lead the planning and budgeting cycles for Digital in partnership with Capital Planning, Finance and Digital outcome teams  
  • Help translate strategy into operating plans/budgets and ensure they remain aligned and on-strategy 
  • Partner with Finance to refine our value measurement framework to track and report on benefits related to investments 
  • Create a culture of transparency by establishing processes across Digital to consistently measure portfolio health & KPIs and maintain digital roadmaps; ensure these are regularly shared across Digital, our stakeholders, and executive leadership team  
  • Define and optimize processes to enable the rest of the Digital organization to effectively deliver on key strategic priorities 


Digital Programs & Agile Enablement 

  • Partner the Business and other parts of Technology to evolve our agile ways of working and increase cross-functional collaboration 
  • Drive greater adoption of agile principles across Rogers to enable speed-to-value, delivery reliability, business partner satisfaction and employee engagement. 
  • Manage digital projects/programs/portfolios to ensure all are delivered with excellence according to committed timelines 
  • Establish, implement and maintain standardized processes for project/program/portfolio management 
  • Build and evolve the project and program reporting framework; design processes and leverage appropriate tools to manage and visualize work for greater transparency across Digital and with stakeholders 


People, Brand & Culture and Change Management 

  • Work with HR develop our people, brand & culture plan that focuses on maintaining a thriving, diverse and inclusive culture and emphasizes growing our internal talent and attracting new talent 
  • Partner with HR and Corporate Communications on programs to build the digital brand within and outside the company 
  • Develop and execute a holistic communications plan for internal audiences including written comms, all-team meetings, culture days; and external audiences including speaking engagements for the CDO and Digital Leadership Team  
  • Continue to drive our digital transformation towards our north star vision through an active change management program 


Vendor Management 

  • Lead the digital vendor management strategy to ensure that our vendors are delivering maximum value through their products, solutions, and services 
  • Partner with Procurement to identify and assess vendors and outsourcing risks prior to entering into agreements and transactions with external vendors 
  • Partner with Procurement and digital outcome teams to ensuring correct business deliverables and requirements are reflected in contracts / agreements  
  • Manage and monitor vendors and their performance on an ongoing basis to ensure performance measures are adhered to 
  • Provide actionable reporting to the business on vendor performance and insights / recommendations to improve  
  • Lead strategic vendor consolidation program focused on rationalizing our software portfolio and optimizing our external labour contracts 
  • Work with Technology Supplier Management Community to align to standard processes. 
  • Knowledge of Rogers' management processes preferred

What you will bring: 

  • 12+ years of professional experience; telecom experience is an asset 
  • Business degree (or equivalent experience) 
  • Experience in consulting and/or articulating a strategy from ideation phase 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented 
  • Leadership experience managing a team of 20+ direct reports 
  • Strong business sense to help drive prioritization decisions 
  • Excellent communication (written ad verbal) and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong relationship skills with the ability to balance multiple stakeholders and agendas simultaneously 
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills 
  • Strong financial and business acumen 
  • Solid understanding of Digital space and program management principles 
  • Passionate to drive change
