We’re looking for an all-star Senior Manager of Broadcast Operations to help us grow the Rogers Sports & Media brand and build a strong Operations team to ensure the highest quality product for our customers. We are looking for someone with a comprehensive background in people, resource and operations management. Someone that possesses a strong work ethic, as well as exceptional interpersonal skills with experience in both live and post production. This Senior Manager will have a significant role in shaping Sportsnet properties such as the NHL, Sportsnet Central, Tim & Sid and Blue Jays Central, to name a few. 

What you will do:

  • Lead, engage and motivate a large group of Operations staff including Editors, Control Room/Studio Operators, ENG Camera Operators and Schedulers
  • Oversee the management of the daily workings of the Sportsnet technical facilities for shows such as NHL, Central, Tim & Sid and Blue Jays Central
  • Liaison with multiple teams including editorial, programming and engineering on operational requirements for day to day and special projects such as Olympics and Rogers Cup tennis
  • Ensure appropriate tools, skills, facilities and support structures are in place to support the Operations team
  • Be the conduit between teams to ensure the smooth operation of our newsroom, studios and control rooms
  • Play a lead role in major projects such as new technology implementation, set redesign and workflow changes
  • Recruit and hire all broadcast Operations full-time staff and part-time causal pool

What you will bring:

  • Management experience and style that builds on compassion and support of those you manage
  • Knowledge of and experience in a multitude of control room, editing and ENG camera technology and equipment, with a keen interest in innovation in these areas
  • An ability to multi-task and work in a fast and driven environment
  • Understanding of a unionized environment and working with unionized staff
  • Proficient at coaching and mentoring multiple areas of specialization
  • Ability to lead through influence to drive change and achieve results in a large organization
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • A desire and passion to connect sports fans to content and new ways of engaging around the sports they love
  • A can-do attitude
