Sr. UX Researcher

Date: Aug 26, 2021

Come play a key role in building the future of Digital! Everyone wants to be part of a transformational team – and that’s exactly what we’re building at Rogers Digital. A team that innovates and a team that wins.

At Rogers Digital we are committed to creating and growing teams that are digital-first, fast-moving and bold-thinking and are focused on delivering impact with everything they do.

Not only is our business strong, but so is our culture. We genuinely care about each other and working in an environment that allows each of us to bring our best authentic selves to work. That starts with our firm commitment to a diverse, inclusive and safe workplace.

We are looking for a Sr. UX Researcher to join our team. You are passionate about human behaviour and try to understand how people think, feel and act. You thrive on figuring out how best to answer a research question, get valid and actionable insights and make key recommendations to teams and partners to drive improvements and outcomes. With your deep analytical skills, you know how to collect and organize data to generate insights that matter. Ultimately, you see yourself as the key partner in supporting a user-centric design practice.

You are well-versed in qualitative research and can think on your feet as you collaborate with partners, stakeholders and vendors in a fast-paced environment. You are curious, inquisitive and know when to fight for our users. You love to learn and develop as a researcher by tackling all aspects of UX research, from gathering requirements, designing your studies, building screeners and protocols, to actively facilitating in-person or remote sessions with participants.

You are a great communicator and have a talent for building narratives, as well as framing a study’s learnings and recommendations in a way that is easy to consume and apply to the design process.

What you will do:

Research Execution

  • Manage and execute end-to-end research: define research objectives, develop research proposal, data collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination with minimal supervision.
  • Offer innovative approaches to solve research questions when resources or time is limited.
  • Be well-versed in both generative and evaluative qualitative research methodologies (i.e. user interviews, concept and/or usability testing, ethnography, contextual inquiry, diary study, competitive analysis, heuristic evaluation, survey design, etc.) and when to use them.
  • Oversee all related research logistics to successfully execute in-house research.
  • Translate findings into action plans to quickly improve the customer experience. This includes the ability to strategize with the UX team and business stakeholders on how to take action on research findings with minimal supervision.
  • Help teams prioritize top insights that will drive the highest impact.
  • Interact with external vendors to perform research activities. Evaluate the quality of their findings and deliverables.
  • Interact with Digital Analytics, Marketing and Consumer Insights teams to leverage existing quantitative and analytics data and help designers generate clear success metrics related to UX.
  • Connect UX research insights to existing quantitative data and help build the bigger story around product design.

Research Practice Development:

  • Communicate customer experience insights to the broader Rogers organization in order to engender greater customer empathy and drive a customer-first culture.
  • Help build processes, methodologies and practices to scale UX research systematically across the organization.

What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree in human computer interaction (HCI), information sciences, information systems, experimental psychology, human factors, anthropology or other related UX disciplines.
  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience as a UX Researcher or a demonstrable experience performing UX research for a company or organization.
  • Experience conducting generative and evaluative UX research studies.
  • Strong interest in helping develop and scale a UX research practice in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Experience executing research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, presenting) with minimal supervision.
  • Portfolio demonstrating past work experience and research related deliverables (e.g. study plans, reports, etc.)
  • Demonstrate expertise of qualitative research and an understanding of best practices in quantitative research.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills in a corporate environment.
  • Strong communicator; able to persuade and nurture relationships with internal teams and vendors.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Able to incorporate feedback and demonstrate constant desire to iterate.
  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to work simultaneously across several projects.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit – able to bring new ideas to the table.
  • Strong capacity to work under pressure and with a large number of stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Be well-versed in quantitative research methodologies
  • Understand how to complete statistical analysis tools (T-test, ANOVA) with Excel or SPSS.

Here’s what you can expect in return:

  • A competitive salary and benefits that include access to our Employee Share Accumulation Program, Retirement Benefits and a variety of other perks including 50% off Rogers services and Blue Jays tickets
  • A manager who deeply cares about your development and long-term career at Rogers
  • A team that trusts and wants to win together
  • Smart and accomplished colleagues who are focused on both the “what” and the “how”
  • Your choice of hardware and software (iPhone or Android/Mac or PC etc.)
