SUMMARY
The Toronto Blue Jays Organization is seeking hard-working individuals with a dedication to custom service and a passion for enhancing the fan experience from entry to exit of both events and games. This role requires a willingness to assist fans in a polite and friendly manner, strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to problem solve.
Support Staff are flexible, adaptable and customer service focused. They are cross trained in varying event day roles so that they are able to fill in where needed. Support staff can be responsible for the admission of fans, provide assistance around mobile tickets, the correct seating of fans according to their ticket, provide directions and guidance to fans, and/or monitor designated areas for safety and ensuring fans are upholding the Fan Code of Conduct. Ideal candidates have some experience working with people in a customer-service capacity and have proven adaptability.
Applicants must be available to work 85% of all non-baseball events scheduled in a calendar year, as well as 30% (or as needed) of regular season Toronto Blue Jays home games, including evenings, weekend and holidays as required. Staff will be expected to attend pre-event/game meetings 30 minutes prior to gates open.
This is part-time contract position running from February to December, with the possibility of extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and assist all fans with a welcoming, friendly attitude
- Provide directions for fans towards seating areas, their seats or any other desired location such as concessions or merchandise locations.
- Monitor safety of all fans
- Receive and act on any fan complaints with a warm attitude and problem-solving approach
- Fulfill duties of assigned role in accordance to job specific training provided
- Report any incident (major or minor) on an Incident Report Card and submit report to your supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent problem solving and judgment skills
- Strong ability to be assertive and influential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills complimented with a friendly and professional manner
- Basic familiarity with mobile devices and navigating apps
- A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- You must be able and interested in supporting a team environment
- Available to work 85% of all non-baseball events scheduled in a calendar year
- Available to work a minimum of 30%, or as needed, Blue Jays regular season scheduled home games
- Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment while standing/walking/climbing stairs inside/outside for 3-5 hour shifts
- Successful candidates must be 18 years of age or older
As a condition of hire, all new employees will be required to provide proof of vaccinations against COVID 19 or undergo regular testing. Any request for an exception under Human Rights legislation must be supported by evidence to be considered by Toronto Blue Jays on a case by case basis.
