We’re looking for a Technical Director (6 month contract) to help us grow the Rogers Sports & Media brand and connect with our Sportsnet audience. We are looking for a Technical Director to switch the multitude of Sportsnet live events and control shows. 

What you will do…

  • Video switching of mainly live-to-air shows including Sportsnet Central, Tim & Friends, Hockey Central, Blue Jays Central, NHL, CHL, National Bank Open and Olympics…to name just a few
  • Excel at the operation of routers, signal routing, live streaming applications, colour correctors, camera shading and waveform/vectorscope
  • Serve as the leader of the Operations crew ensuring that all equipment and facilities are technically faxed and ready for air
  • Continuously examining performance of our internal network systems, identify and acting immediately on inconsistencies to provide solutions to fulfill requirements and provide opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Maximize utilization of available resources for the ever-growing requirements of Rogers Sports and Media market leading content offerings, and liaise with Directors, Producers, Management and Engineering on all technical maintenance and repair related issues

What you will bring…

  • A deep understanding of control room and studio production
  • Excel in the operation of video switchers (including Ross and Grass Valley) and control of server animation playback
  • An excellent understanding of Evertz routers, signal routing, live streaming applications ie. Zoom, Facetime and Skype
  • Knowledge of colour correctors, shading cameras (video controls), Waveforms/Vectorscopes
  • A natural curiosity and drive to win
  • A care for people and the world around them
  • An aptitude for working with others and thinking of the team first
  • A passion for sports, content and broadcasting
  • Strong analytical and technical skills/knowledge of various broadcast control systems and peripherals.
  • An ability to make very quick decisions under stressful situations
  • A multi-tasker who works in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
