Transportation Analyst (Claims) Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager Transportation, the Transportation Analyst (Claims) role will focus on all aspects of transportation claim management. This critical role will both ensure vendor exceptions are processed and paid in a timely manner and perform key audit and reporting activities to help senior management understand and develop strategies to reduce shrink. The Transportation Analyst (Claims) role will:
- Manage the transportation claim process including reviewing, tracking, and ensuring resolution of each claim and ultimately ensuring any payment disposition made by the carriers is paid and recorded appropriately.
- Develop and maintain appropriate key performance indicators around transportation claims and provide root-cause analysis and recommendations for any trends observed.
- Assist in identifying continuous improvement opportunities to streamline the reporting, and analysis of transportation data to drive efficiency and potential cost savings
- Leverage data visualization tools to represent the data in a business-friendly manner with the aim of generating actionable insights
- Participate in quarterly carrier performance review sessions.
- Support Manager/Senior Transportation Specialists in conducting analysis on transportation activity; identifying and presenting opportunities / recommendations.
- Support and/or lead projects of varying size and complexity including problem definition, data collection/analytics, solution modeling, presentation, and implementation.
- Other related duties and special projects as required from time to time.
Job Knowledge Requirements:
1. Relevant knowledge and experience:
- University Degree in Business, Supply Chain Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Professional certification in Transportation or Logistics (CITT, PLog) preferred.
- 3+ years experience in transportation / distribution / manufacturing / Loss Prevention.
- Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience in an analytical role.
2. Technical competency requirements:
- Exceptional data and process analysis, problem solving, planning, and organizational skills are a must. Ability to understand the big picture and quickly adapt to it.
- Technological aptitude with advanced Excel skills are required along with proficiency in remainder of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Oracle ERP preferred
- Knowledge of advanced data query tools (SQL, Access, Noetix, etc) preferred
- Familiarity with visual dashboarding and data management tools (Tableau, Power BI) strongly preferred
- Highly effective communication skills (oral and written) coupled with strong presentation skills.
- Experience analyzing, manipulating, transforming, and interpreting large and complex datasets
- Superior time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong sense of urgency
- Self-motivated, collaborative and team focused individual with the ability to work independently
