We're looking for a Senior Manager, OMNI News! Our News & Information team is looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and passionate Senior Manager to lead our OMNI News team. OMNI news is a vital link to Canada’s rich and diverse multilingual communities. OMNI produces regional and national news and information programs in six languages, Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Italian, Tagalog and Arabic. The ideal candidate is an experienced news professional who excels in the art of video storytelling and embraces innovation. This is a one-year contract position to cover a maternity leave. Please note that we are open to having this position based out of either Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal.

 

What you will do…

  • Oversee the editorial news strategy for each of our language news teams across all regions

  • Provide leadership on journalistic, ethical and legal decisions

  • Lead change and innovation in editorial content and news programming

  • Manage a news team including coaching, feedback and mentoring to help build the next generation of multi-lingual journalists

  • Lead development of a positive, creative internal culture, consistent with Rogers’ values

  • Increase, improve and manage integrated editorial efforts with other Rogers Sports & Media news platforms

 

What you will bring…

  • Deep experience in news, including reporting on issues that resonate with diverse communities

  • Understanding of Canada’s diverse language communities that OMNI serves

  • Experience in leading complex and regionally diverse teams

  • Highly effective leader able to rally a diverse group of individuals toward a common goal

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with multiple stakeholders, and excellent editorial judgment

  • Strong ability to influence stakeholders
